Thailand Crime Statistics

KC-This blog is in no way an effort to construct Thailand as a land of crime, but rather to document the many different crimes occurring and to try and understand them within the context of Thailand's unique socio-cultural framework. The time is thus ripe for some crime statistics, compiled by NationMaster http://www.nationmaster.com/ to shed some well-needed light on Thailand's crime rankings globally. The stats are particularly revealing, perhaps shocking to some, as Thailand is oft-considered a 'safe' place to visit in comparison to its naughty neighbours, such as Burma and Cambodia. I would be interested to know readers' comments regarding Thailand's position in these selected tables.-
